In keeping with the history, beauty and harmony of its setting, to maximise the comfort of your stay with us and to ensure the most unforgettable experience, the La Groirie hotel offers 13 luxury and superior bedrooms, each one spacious and climate-controlled, and all equipped with the most elegant period furniture. Each one is of the highest standard ... but each one is unique in its style and decoration, its size, lighting and its atmosphere as a place for you to enjoy a restful and memorable stay.
One Chinaman, then two, then three . . . This room takes its name from the pattern illustrating its very pretty, candy and lemon-toned classic French ‘toile de Jouy printed textile wallpaper. The delightful wood panelling completes a most harmonious design which contrasts with the huge bathroom with a stone-tiled floor.
The atmosphere of this room, in common with that of Room 14 - there is no room numbered 13 - pays tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, with its imposing high ceiling, hung throughout with a fabric wall-covering of thin stripes and (imitation) leopard-skin pile carpet. The design is an exact replica of the tent from which the French Emperor directed his military campaigns.
Charming hand-painted furniture, stripes of sea-green, fresh and discrete, conjuring up feeling and memories of childhood, safe, secure, welcoming.
This bedroom is furnished with mahogany pieces in the early 19th century Empire style set against a backdrop of an immense, grey-toned panoramic scene representing an imaginary voyage in Italy. Naples, Vesuvius, Tivoli, etc. Images of these destinations twirl before your eyes and the large marble covered bathroom lets you submerge yourself just a little in the delights of the descendants of Imperial Rome.
