In this room in the hotel de la Groirie in Sarthe near Le Mans, the ambiance is one of romance and romanticism. This bed, both cosy and delightful to look at, will afford you a wonderful night’s sleep. The “Polish-style” bed is a four-poster bed with a different shape that first appeared in the 18th century. The whole atmosphere of this bedroom recreates the style of the age of enlightenment, from its bed to the fabrics with large red-coloured flowers, a modern reproduction of the so-called Indian-style fabrics imported from the trading posts in the Indies before being manufactured directly in Europe from the 18th century onwards.
