La Groirie is a château and Hotel just a stone’s throw from Le Mans in the department of Sarthe (72). Its origins date back to the 17th century, when Monsieur de la Rivière chose this family estate to commission the design of a small château surrounded by a large park with beech tree-lined avenues adjoining a large canal, rivers and a lake to come hunting and take a break from his hectic life in Paris. A few decades later, one of his cousins convinced him to make this historic dwelling his home, by adding a number of buildings that could be used to accommodate his friends and distinguished guests.
